Professor Philippe Aghion is the 2025 Nobel Laureate in Economics, currently serving as professor at Collège de France, INSEAD, and London School of Economics, and researcher at the Centre for Economic Policy Research. He is a fellow of the Econometric Society and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on economic growth theory. Together with Peter Howitt, he pioneered the Schumpeterian growth paradigm, which has been widely used to analyze growth policy design and the role of the state in economic development. In 2001, he received the Yrjö Jahnsson Award; in 2009, the von Neumann Award; in 2020, the BBVA Frontiers of Knowledge Award (jointly with Peter Howitt). In 2025, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics together with Joel Mokyr and Peter Howitt for 'his explanation of innovation-driven economic growth.'
